Do I Need A Mini Fridge For My Products

I see this come up so I thought I'd put some information that might help with this. Majority of skincare products are PH balanced and preserved to ensure the can be maintained in the common climate they're produced in.  There a few exceptions for those actives that are notoriously unstable when exposed to air, light, etc. These include Vitamin C, it's derivatives and Retinoids however, this is not necessary it's more so if you're looking to extend the life of your product.  This can also be used to enhance soothing properties of anti-inflammatory ingredients however, the product should not be left in the fridge but rather placed in 10-15 minutes prior. For a lot of products refrigeration can impact their efficacy and texture by essentially "shocking the product".I myself have fallen victim to the marketing of these (I have one along  my skincare products, rarely used). So while these do have some minor benefits I would not recommend this a...

Can I Change My Pore Size - The Simple Approach to Clear & Refined Pores

"How do shrink and/or get rid of my pores". I see this question a lot and there are some things to factor in here. There are a few things that can cause pores to more visible from congestion, products that are too occlusive enlarging the pores or even genetics. If you've ever heard you can't shrink or get rid of your pores. This is technically true as your pores as required for healthy skin function and each individual varies, There are, however, some things that can be done to visible reduce their appearance. The first is to ensure that the pores are clear from deep congestion. Using a Beta Hydroxy Acid based product can assist with this as this is oil soluble. Which means this allows it to penetrate the follicle (pore) deeper than other acids to dissolve congestion. Some great options for this are: - COSRX Two in One Poreless Power Liquid - Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid, Gel or Lotion - Paula’s Choice Antioxidant Pore Purifier The next step is to...

Face Shaving - The Simple Way!

I wanted to touch on this as I see a lot of varied info around and as a male who has had to shave since I was 17-18 tears old, I'd like to weigh in. Firstly I'd like to preface this by saying I've tried many various shaving creams, oil, balm, etc. Through a process of elimination, have been able to narrow a simplistic process when it comes to shaving that doesn't cause any irritation, rashes, shaving bumps, etc.  The most effective option I've found is a combination of using a simple emollient based product, specific water temperature (doing this to minimise any chance of irritation), and a good quality razor.  To start off I make this the first step of my routine be it AM or PM. This reduces the risk of sensitivity. I shower allowing the steam from the warm water to slightly raise the hairs from the skin. You don't need to apply/rinse the water over your face, being in the vicinity is more than sufficient. Once out of the shower damp the face with...

Skin Purging - What Is It, Do I Have It, and When To Wait It Out

So I keep seeing this being brought up and I thought I go into this in a bit more detail to clarify the confusion companies seem to be creating around the term ‘ Purging ’. Skin Purging - So what is purging this term ‘skin purging’, this refers to a acne breakout as a reaction to an active ingredient that increases the skins cellular turnover rate in acne prone skin types. This is an indication that the prescribed/recommended product is functioning correctly. This commonly occurs with more acidic or active products like Retinoids, Chemical Exfoliants or other potent acids. This can result in breakouts or dryness like flaking in areas where this usually occurs. This generally is resolved within a 4-6 week period. Some tips to reduce the severity: - Don’t use products that can excessively dry out the skin - Don’t pick, squeeze or try and extract these breakouts, or peel skin off directly - Ease yourself into the product. If you gradually introduce a product once a week allow your skin to...

What Happens To The Products You Wash Off At Home, and How Does It Impact The Environment?

So what really happens to the product you wash away? There's been a lot of info going around about chemical filters impact in the reefs, and other ingredients like synthetic polymers that can harm the environment. Which from all studies appears to be correct. But does that apply to everyday product and sunscreen use? You might be surprised to find out that the majority of countries use water filtration systems, or treatment plants for all points of drainages (sinks, laundry, and yep even toilets). To be chemically treated and re-used. This applies to the products/sunscreen that are washed down our drains. The water is treated with various chemicals, tested and released back into the pipelines (if passes the test). You should be able to identify how your water supplier does this in your location so I encourage to research this do you can understand how your water is supplied. For those that would like to avoid these chemicals on the rebounded water, some filters can be at...

Marine Algae's - How Can It Benefit Your Routine!

Marine Algae's have been a hidden little ingredient that has some amazing properties and can even be found in some of the skincare we may already use, or used in the past (Youth To The People, The Ordinary, Paula's Choice to name a few) Studies have shown that marine algae have various benefits to the skin.
